There are two distinct types of problems or injuries which need to be treated differently:
Most of the population suffer long term muscular and joint problems especially with advancing age. There is a myriad of treatments out there from surgical to the mystical. That creates a very confusing scene for people to negotiate through, deciding what is fact to what is fiction, what is effective and what is nonsense. It is not only a matter of deciding which practitioner is credible but also what level of treatment is appropriate to the problem. One thing is certain, nothing works but applying up to date science not conventional outdated ideas or airy - fairy alternative approaches.
While surgery and pain medication is appropriate for trauma injury, it has its risks and complications. It is not appropriate and does not solve long term problems where the only solution is to identify and solve the cause. Ongoing pain or anti inflammatory medication is not appropriate as pain is our body’s way of warning us of injury or wear and masking it only leads to the problem becoming worse. The fact that a person will have a similar recurring injury or problem is an indicator that it comes from something inherent about them which needs to be attended to.
